Märklin — the reference, since 1859
Founded in Göppingen in 1859, Märklin invented part of what model railways have become: mainstream H0, the three-rail AC system, C track with integrated ballast, and mfx digital where each locomotive announces itself to the controller.
What makes a Märklin
- The 3-rail AC system — centre-stud pickup: simple wiring, reverse loops without tricks.
- C track — integrated ballast, click assembly, reliable on carpet and permanent layout alike.
- mfx / Central Station — the locomotive registers itself with the controller.
- Three scales — H0 at the core, Z (1:220, invented by Märklin in 1972) and gauge 1.
