Prototype
Steam locomotive with a 2-8-4 "Berkshire" wheel arrangement of the Southern Pacific. Deep black basic paint scheme. Running number 3505. The locomotive looks as it did between 1945 and 1950. One of 25 locomotives built with the distinctive Coffin feedwater heater.
Model
The locomotive has an mfx+ digital decoder and extensive light and sound functions. It also has a regulated high-performance motor with a flywheel in the boiler. Four axles powered, three of them by means of coupling rods. Traction tyres. The locomotive and tender are mostly of metal. A smoke unit with speed-dependent, dynamic smoke output is fitted as standard and can be controlled digitally. The headlights that change over with the direction of travel, with one lamp each on the locomotive and tender, will work in conventional operation and can be controlled digitally. The cab and number board lighting as well as the firebox flickering can be controlled separately digitally. Maintenance-free warm white and red LEDs are used for the lighting. The locomotive has a buffer capacitor. Adjustable close coupler with a guide mechanism between the locomotive and tender. Close coupler with a guide mechanism and an NEM pocket on the tender. Engine driver and fireman figures seated in the cab. Piping for the area below the cab is included as separately plug-in parts. Length approx. 31.3 cm.
